The treatment of many Democrat National Committee staffers who were laid off in recent months has union reps angry.
Fox News reported that the union supporting those DNC members is raising funds to help workers who have lost their jobs following the loss of Vice President Kamala Harris (D) to Donald Trump (R), now the President-elect.
The union created a GoFundMe account to raise $25,000 for the staffers.
The page reads:
Two-thirds of DNC employees were laid off last week with no notice or severance. We are devastated to see our colleagues, who spent countless hours working to elect Democrats across the country, leave under such circumstances. And we are furious at DNC leadership for not providing severance pay to those affected.
We are therefore creating a fund to directly assist staff, including single mothers and pregnant workers, who have been affected by recent layoffs. The money raised will be divided equally among all laid-off employees who choose to receive the funds. These funds are intended to help those affected by the layoffs.
A spokesperson for the DNC told Fox News, “Every cycle, political organizations increase their staffing to meet demand, and when the cycle ends, it is a harsh reality in our industry to have to part with hardworking, talented employees.”
The spokesperson added that the DNC had met all the requirements of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and would continue to help those who are in transition.
As we reported previously on November 6, Harris’s campaign was $20 million in the red during the final week of her presidential campaign.
A few days later, an article said that Harris was still soliciting money from donors.
Trump won the presidential election of 2024 in a landslide on November 5, defeating Harris and her radical-leftist running mate Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN).
