Scott Jennings Shakes Up CNN: ‘This Is the Revenge of Regular America’

People are taking stock and reflecting on the results as the smoke clears from the long and difficult 2024 elections. CNN’s Scott Jennings is the person I would choose to summarize the results best.

Jennings was on a CNN panel last night with a bunch of dumbfounded CNN talking heads who couldn’t understand how Donald Trump could have won. They were convinced that he was evil and corrupt. Jennings thoughtfully explained everything as his panelists sat silently, listening.

He called this “a mandate,” saying that Trump had won the popular vote in the country and now has to follow through on what he promised, such as getting the economy up and running again, fixing the border, and reducing crime.

Jennings then gave what I believe to be the best explanation for Trump’s victory that I have heard or will likely hear.

Jennings described his win as “revenge” for the anonymous American regular who has “been crushed, insulted and condescended.”

He continued, “They are not Nazis or garbage. They’re regular people who go to work and make a better living for their children. And they feel that they were told to shut up after they complained about things in their lives.”

Jennings then criticized his industry and, without saying so, the people with whom he is currently associated.

“I also feel like this election — as we sit here and pour over this tonight — is something of an indictment of the political information complex,” said Jennings. “And the story that was portrayed was not true. We were told Puerto Rico was going to change the election. Liz Cheney, Nikki Haley voters, women lying to their husbands, before that, it was Tim Walz and the camo hats.”

He continued, “Night after Night after Night we were told these things and gimmicks.” “We were ignoring fundamentals and thinking we could push Harris to the finish line. The fundamentals of this election were inflation, the feeling that people could barely keep their heads above water, and the fact that they felt like they couldn’t even afford to buy food.

Jennings said that both parties must always examine the results and determine what went well and what did not. “But for those of us who talk and cover elections daily, I think we need to find out how to talk and listen to that half of the country which has said, ‘we have had enough’.”

Jennings’ comments are probably the most important. I am sure that many people can point out a variety of reasons why the Democrats lost the election. Media failed to see beyond the details and, because they focused on what they thought was important, they overlooked the real concerns of people. The media and the left were so focused on being the party that “didn’t support Trump” that they failed to listen to the concerns of the people.

Jennings stated that whenever these voices were raised, they were told they should shut up and accused of social sins.

This was ultimately a strong rebuke. Jennings will teach CNN some valuable lessons, but his words are likely to be ignored by those who can hear him. Leftists will rationalize it in a way that prevents the finger-pointing at themselves.

This is a shame because this is one of the greatest teachable moments ever. The leftist complex should not let it pass if they want to remain relevant.
