In less than four years, President Joe Biden (left) and Vice President Kamala Harris (right) have broken records in illegal immigration and legal migration.
The Migration Policy Institute has revealed that between Fiscal Year 2020 and Fiscal Year 2024, the Biden Administration granted naturalized citizenship to nearly 3.5 million legal immigrants.
MPI reported that this is “by far” the highest number of presidential terms in history.
For perspective, the number of legal immigrants who secured naturalized American citizenship under Biden eclipses those who got citizenship under former Presidents Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and George H.W. Bush, combined.
Only George W. Bush’s second term was able to match Biden’s record of naturalizations.
The Biden administration’s commitment to reducing the waiting time for applications is largely responsible for the high naturalization rate.
“Processing time improved during this period. [U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services] processed naturalization requests in Fiscal Year 2024 on average within five months, down from the 11.5 months it took at the beginning of Biden’s tenure.
Biden has also overseen the admission of more than 4.3 million green card holders who are legal immigrants over the past four years. A record number of foreign students received student visas for American colleges and universities in the past academic year.
The nation’s foreign-born population has risen to 52 million, the highest in American history, due to the high levels of legal immigration. More than one million legal immigrants are accepted every year.
