Egyptian National Arrested in Foiled Terror Plot Against Embassy

The FBI can be right sometimes. The FBI arrested Abdullah Ezzeldin Taha Mohamed Hassan after an investigation that lasted for several months. He was accused of plotting to attack the Israeli Embassy in New York City.

Abdullah Ezzeldin Taha Mohamed Hassan was arrested by the FBI for allegedly sending instructions on how to make a bomb that would be used against the Israeli Consulate in New York. Documents charging Hassan claim that he worked closely with an FBI informant.

Local police received a tip in May about a Twitter account that supported ISIS. Reviewing his past posts revealed that he had supported ISIS as well as other extremist views. An FBI informant replied to Hassan’s Tweet and started a conversation with him about their alleged shared interests.

As noted, the plot involved an attack on Israel’s embassy in New York, and “two weapons,” which are presumably firearms and explosives.

The charging documents state that Hasan gave the FBI informant the address of the Israeli Consulate in New York. According to court records, Hassan gave the FBI informant tips on creating a martyrdom film, encouraging him to say: “Your governments are complicit and responsible for the death of millions of men, women, and children in al-Sham and Iraq and our beloved Al Quds.” It is time for revenge. We weaponize the Wrath of Allah, AZWJL on you as you weaponize yourself with your jets and tanks. You may find us and try to kill us. Allah AZWJL, however, will replace the fallen with new mujahideen who are determined to eradicate the corruption you have brought about.

The Bureau claims that Hassan gave the FBI informant links to purchase two weapons, detailed instructions on how the bomb was constructed, and advice on how to escape the United States following the attack.

According to the FBI’s “Affidavit In Support Of A Criminal Complaint and An Arrest Warrant”, Hassan, an Egyptian citizen, lives in Falls Church in Virginia and is — surprise! — in the United States illegally. The affidavit states that he has been placed in removal proceedings by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The affidavit described Hassan’s social media posts threatening attacks, praying for an ISIS Masterclass, and “revering Osama Bin Laden and Ayman al Zawahiri”.

You can view the FBI affidavit which led to Hassan’s arrest.

The information available at this time — the affidavit contains a great deal of it — paints a very vivid picture of an Islamic terrorist who is willing and capable of carrying out terror attacks in America and has no right to be here. It’s not clear how he got here, even though the affidavit mentions that Hassan’s dad had a Verizon account, but the location of his father is not given.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia which prosecutes the case declined to comment. Hassan was not reachable.

You don’t say.
