A new complaint accuses Jay-Z (born Shawn Carter), a rapper and entrepreneur, of raping a 13-year-old girl alongside Sean “Diddy”, the defamed musician.
NBC News reported that “Jane Doe” – the victim – claimed to have been assaulted by two stars at an MTV Video Music Awards Afterparty. A limousine driver invited her to an after-party in Manhattan, following the Video Music Awards.
The suit was originally filed in October of 2024 and only named Diddy. In the amended complaint filed on Sunday, Jay-Z is identified as “Celebrity A,” accused of raping a 13-year-old girl while “Celebrity B,” another female, was watching.
In court documents, Jay-Z is also accused of being present at “many” such incidents.
“Diddy believes he is above the law. He is not,” the filing reads. “His close friend Shawn Carter has been with Combs during many such instances described herein. Both perpetrators must face justice.”
The lawsuit also accuses Jay-Z “of orchestrating a conspiracy against Plaintiff’s attorneys, their families and employees, to silence Plaintiff and prevent them from naming Jay-Z.”
In response to the complaint, the record executive issued a long statement. Jay-Z claimed that the lawyer who filed the lawsuit on behalf of the 13-year-old accused tried to blackmail him.
Jay-Z said that he calculated the public scrutiny and nature of the allegations would lead me to want to settle. “No, sir! It had the opposite impact! I wanted to expose your fraud in a very public way. No, I won’t give you a single red penny! !”
Jay-Z stated that his only concern was for his family. He said explaining the accusations would be difficult for the Carter-Knowles children. He said that his “heart” and “support” go out to “true victims of the world.”
The music mogul added, “Only your network, made up of fake physicists and conspiracy theorists will believe the ridiculous claims you’ve made against me. If not for the seriousness of harming children, they would be hilarious. I am looking forward to showing you how different I am.”
Tony Buzbee, a lawyer from New York City, responded to Jay-Z’s statement on X in a Sunday evening post. He shared: “Mr. Carter had previously denied that he was the one who filed suit against me and my law firm. He filed his frivolous lawsuit under a pseudonym. He fails to mention in his latest statement that my firm sent a letter of demand on behalf of an alleged victim, and the victim never asked for a penny.
“Since I sent the letter on her behalf, Mr. Carter has not only sued me, but he has tried to bully and harass me and this plaintiff. His conduct has had the opposite impact. She is emboldened,” Buzbee’s post continues. “I’m very proud of her resolve.”
He said that he, along with his client, will “let the filings speak for themselves and litigate the facts before the court and not in the media.”
Diddy’s indictment
Diddy pleaded not guilt to federal charges of sex trafficking contained in the indictment that was unsealed a day after his arrest on Sept. 16. The charges include allegations that he coerced, abused, and threatened women for many years with the help of associates and staff, and used violence to silence victims, including blackmail, arson, and physical abuse.
After his third refusal of bond in November, he has been incarcerated until the trial on May 5.
Combs was indicted after months of speculation regarding a possible federal probe tied to civil suits alleging abuse and sex assaults spanning over 30 years.
The indictment alleges Combs lured in women with promises of a romantic relationship before using intimidation and threats to have them engage in prostitution at reported so-called “freak offs.” There, victims were allegedly drugged and told to engage in sex acts with male sex workers for an extended period, while someone filmed them.
Combs is accused of having kept some videos, sometimes even without the victims’ consent.
According to the indictment Combs and his victims frequently required IV fluids following physical exertion.
