Justin Trudeau to Step Down as Poilievre’s Rise Gains Momentum

Justin Trudeau will reportedly resign from his position as leader of the Liberal Party in Canada, which could lead to his removal as Prime Minister. The Globe and Mail reports that Trudeau may announce his resignation as early as Monday to try to beat the Wednesday caucus.

In recent years, the controversial leader of the far left has brought his party to a near-death state. The Pierre Poilievre-led Conservatives are expected to come out on top in the October elections. Trudeau’s position as party leader will be vacated once he resigns, but the timeline for this is not clear.

Three sources have said that Justin Trudeau will announce his resignation as Liberal Party leader as soon as Monday. The Prime Minister is facing a revolt in the caucus and a dismal public poll that shows that Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives will sweep power by a landslide.

Sources said that while they do not know for sure when Mr. Trudeau’s plans to leave will be announced, they believe it will occur before Wednesday’s important national caucus. The Globe and Mail does not identify the sources as they are not authorized to talk about internal party issues.

Liberals will certainly try to change the narrative by introducing a new face just before voters head to the polls. Poilievre’s popularity makes it seem like this is a lost cause. Recently, he gave one of the greatest speeches in modern political history. He received praise from all over the world.

Canada is about to undergo a major transformation. It is only a matter of time before October 2024.

Trudeau’s demise would be a great disappointment to the Trump administration. This would be a humiliation to one of Donald Trump’s most important international enemies. It could also ease economic tensions and prevent a possible trade war between the two countries.

Trudeau has two choices for his future. The Liberals can name an interim leader which would result in Trudeau stepping down from his position as Prime Minister almost instantly. The Liberals could try to hold a leader election which would take several months and allow Trudeau to stay in office until the process is completed. It doesn’t matter how he goes, Trudeau is done as a major political force. That’s great news for Canadians.
