Rapper Defends Trump Support After Backlash Over Inauguration Performance

Nelly, the rapper, is now looking to President Donald Trump to “lift” and guide the nation after facing criticism for performing at the inaugural ball of the president.

Nelly, who performed on Monday, said: “It was a great honor to have performed in the most prestigious office of the greatest nation.” “Now, we are looking to the president to serve and lift us all.”

A source said that Nelly and his family were greeted before taking the stage by President Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and their families.

Along with other artists such as Jason Aldean, Billy Ray Cyrus, and others, the rapper performed at the Liberty Ball after the inauguration. Nelly attended the Commander-In-Chief Ball before his performance. Nelly’s real name is Cornell Iral Haynes Jr.

Sources said that Nelly thanked military officers for their service and took pictures with them throughout the night. Sources had revealed that Nelly, a rapper born on a base, has several family members serving in the military, as he noted during his entrance.

Nelly, accompanied by dancers in Secret Service costumes, opened the show with the “Hail to the Chief.” He then performed a number of his greatest hits, such as “Ride Wit Me,” and “Hot in Herre.”

Later, his dancers wore hats with the words “USA.”

Nelly’s decision to attend the inaugural celebrations was met with criticism over the weekend. “I’m doing this not for money. It’s an honor for me to do this. I respect the office,” said the St. Louis native in a conversation with Willie D, a fellow rapper.

“It doesn’t matter who holds the office.” He continued, “Our men and women who protect our country have to go into battle and put their lives on the line, just like our brothers and sisters, who are in office.”

“So, if they can put their life on the line for whoever is in office, I can damn sure perform for whoever is in office.”

In addition to his father, Nelly’s aunts and uncles “all served in the military for our democracy and the right for us all to vote. He has personally stayed away from politics and wouldn’t participate in campaigning for anyone, but this performance is for the highest office,” emphasizing that the 50-year-old considers the performance to be “an honor.”

The source said that Nelly was aware of “people’s different opinions” but also saw the performance as a chance to bring people together.

The singer addressed his critics directly during the conversation with Willie D. He rejected the idea that Trump is a White supremacist. Nelly responded, “I’d ask them to show me where he is a White supremacist.”

“The politics are over for me.” “He won, and he’s the President,” said the rapper. He’s the commander-in-chief of what I like to call the best country on the planet.

“It is an honor to perform for any president of the United States. I would have performed if President Biden had asked me. If Vice President Kamala Harris had won and asked me to perform, then I would have performed,” he added.

Nelly will embark on his “Where The Party At Tour”, a worldwide tour, in March.
