Temple Student Dies After Tragic Fall During Eagles Celebration in Philadelphia

Sources said that a Temple University student was killed after falling and climbing a pole while the crowds celebrated the Philadelphia Eagles winning the NFC championship on Sunday night.

The university released a statement, “Tyler Sabapathy (18) was a student in his first year at Temple University’s College of Public Health.”

Sources reported that Sabapathy had climbed up a pole on 15th Street and Market Street and then fell.

The entire Temple community is in mourning over his death. The university issued a statement in which it expressed its condolences to Tyler’s friends, family, and classmates, as well as all those who knew him and loved him.

Sabapathy, a native of Toronto Canada, majored in exercise science and sports science. She was also a member of her school’s club team gymnastics.

In a press release, Temple said that students can receive help through Tuttleman Counseling Services. Faculty and staff members can also get 24/7 support from the Employee Assistance Program.

Philadelphia police reported 31 citations issued for disorderly conduct and failure to disperse, four assaults against police with two arrests made Sunday night. Police reported that there were also two shootings, as well as a person who fired a weapon into the air. The front of the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office had also been vandalized.
