On Sunday, President-elect Trump toured Washington and held a victory rally at Capital One Area shortly before Inauguration day.
Trump arrived at the capital of the United States over the weekend, where he will prepare to serve a second term as president.
Trump and Vice-President-elect JDVance participated in a wreath-laying ceremony earlier on Sunday at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He is also planning to host a candlelight meal with his wife Melania Trump in the evening.
TikTok also said on Sunday that it was “in the process” of restoring the service in the United States, hours after the popular video-sharing platform went dark.
In the Middle East, a ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Hamas came into effect on Sunday. Hostages who had been held for over a year in the Gaza Strip were released. The agreement includes three phases, including a six-week initial pause in the fighting.
Many lawmakers have also appeared on the Sunday political news programs, including Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas who stated that Trump will be entering the White House in a “different Donald Trump”, compared to the man who was elected eight years ago.
Plus, Speaker Mike Johnson is a Republican from Louisiana. On NBC’s Meet the Press, he said that he would “not commit” to sending disaster aid to California without conditions even though Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat from California, insists that his state is in dire need of disaster aid to combat wildfires. He also said that Hamas would pay a “hellish price” if it violates the recent ceasefire agreement with Israel.
