Trump Orders Release of JFK, RFK, and MLK Jr. Assassination Files

Donald Trump kept another promise he made during his campaign by signing an order on Thursday declassifying federal files related to the assassinations. of President John F. Kennedy, civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Senator Robert F. Kennedy. The National Archives states that the declassified files represent approximately three percent of all records about these events. However, as we know, the devil can be found in the details.

Now, these details are public.

Following the powers vested in me as President by the Constitution of the United States of America and its laws, the following is ordered:

Section 1. The Federal Government still hasn’t released all its records relating to the assassinations that took place more than 50 years ago of President John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The truth and transparency are due to their families and the American public. The national interest is to release without delay all records relating to these assassinations.

The EO gives the Director of National Intelligence and the U.S. Attorney General 15 days to submit a plan for the full release of all documents about President Kennedy’s assassination. The records of the assassinations of Dr. King, Robert Kennedy, and others were given a 45-day deadline.

Pres. Trump announced earlier that he intended to declassify the documents.

Trump responded, “That was a big deal, huh?” After an aide said the president would sign the executive order “ordering declassification files relating the assassinations President John F. Kennedy and Senator Robert F. Kennedy” and Dr. Reverend Martin Luther King Jr., Mr. Trump replied, “That is a huge one, huh?” Many people have been waiting for this long — years, decades.

The National Archives and Records Administration announced that 97% of its approximately 5 million pages related to the JFK assassination are public after releasing some JFK files.

It is not unlikely that President Trump would order this action. Trump’s urgency to take this action could be a result of him having survived two assassination tries.

In his first term, he had also promised to release similar records, but at the time not all of them were made available.

During his first term in 2017, the president made a promise to release all remaining JFK documents. This included 3,000 documents that had never been released and 30,000 previously redacted files. However, not all the files were made available during his first term.

Congress mandated in 1992 that all documents relating to assassinations be made public within 25 years.

It’s been over 25 years since Congress required this release.

It’s not possible to tell what the remaining three percent of documents contain. There is little chance that there will be anything shocking. Many theories surround the deaths of the three men, but if there were any incriminating details in the records, they have likely been destroyed by either party.

Once the action has been completed and all records have been released, we will then be able to examine all of these details. It will be fascinating to see what lies behind the wall that has been separating classified information for so many years.
