A spokesperson for the president said that Argentina’s President has signed a law banning gender-based care in children under 18 years of age.

The announcement follows a massive mobilization by the LGBTQ+ collective to denounce President Javier Milei’s speech at the World Economic Forum last week in Davos, where he criticized “wokeism,” feminism, and referred to homosexuals as “pedophiles.”

In a press statement, Manuel Adorni, the presidential spokesperson announced that a gender identity law from 2012 that allowed such practices only with parental consent or guardian’s consent has been repealed.

In a statement issued later, the government of President Trump’s far-right party said that “Gender ideologies taken to an extreme and applied by force or psychological pressure to children simply constitutes child abuse.” Children do not possess the cognitive maturity required to make decisions regarding irreversible processes.
