U.S. Department of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated Sunday that the department does not “do climate change crap,” and instead concentrates on warfighting, training, etc.

Secretary of State John Kerry was replying to Haley Britzky’s post on CNN. Britzky shared an article about how the Department of Defense (DOD) and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which is part of the DOD, have cut programs at the Pentagon dealing with climate change.

Britzky writes: “DoD and DOGE plan to reduce climate programs at the Pentagon. But officials and experts warn that DOD climate initiatives are directly related to military readiness and claim cuts to climate programs could place troops and military operations in danger”

Britzky said that CNN sent a series of questions to the Pentagon about readiness.

“…Pentagon Spox John Ullyot said, ‘Climate zealotry and other woke chimeras of the Left are not part’ of DOD’s mission,” Britzky posted.

Hegseth responded to the article after seeing it.

The defense secretary replied: “John, as you know, is correct. The @DeptofDefense doesn’t do climate-change crap. We do warfighting and training.”

DOGE and the DOD have worked together in order to reduce wasteful expenditures, DOD spokesperson Sean Parnell stated last week.

The DOGE director listed the first findings, which included millions of dollars spent on diversity, equality, and inclusion programs. These include $1.9 million in support of holistic DEI training and transformation for the Air Force and $6,000,000 to the University of Montana to “strengthen American Democracy by bridging the divides.”

The University of Florida received $ 1.6 million to investigate the impact of climate hazards on African institutions and social systems.

Parnell stated, “This is not the core mission of our military. This isn’t what we do. This stuff is distracting from our core missions.”

He added, “These initial findings are likely to save us $80,000,000 in wasted spending.”

Hegseth stated that his agency will work with DOGE, who have conducted reviews of the Treasury, Labor, Education and Health departments, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Office of Personnel Management and Internal Revenue Service.

He said that DOGE employees are often veterans and that it’s a good thing that they find flaws.

Hegseth stated, “They care like us, in finding the redundancies, and identifying the last vestiges Biden’s priorities – the DEI and the woke. The climate change B.S. is not central to our mission, and we will get rid of all of it.”
