Nvidia CEO: A Humanoid Robot Revolution Is Just Around the Corner

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang thinks humanoid robotics will be widely used in manufacturing facilities within five years.

Huang gave a keynote speech on Tuesday in San Jose at the annual developer conference of the company, which has a market capitalization of nearly $3 trillion.

Huang revealed software tools that, according to him, would make it easier for humanoid robotics to navigate through the world.

Huang was asked by a group of journalists, after his speech, what signs would indicate that AI has become widespread.

Among other answers, Huang said it may be “when humanoid robots are wandering around, which is not five years away. This is not a five-year-away problem, this is a few-year-away problem.”

He said that the manufacturing industry is likely to adopt humanoid robotics first, as it has defined tasks that robots are able to handle in a controlled setting.

“I believe it should go to factories first.” Huang explained that the reason is because “the domain is more guarded and the use case much more specific.”

The value is easy to calculate. Renting a robot-human is about $100,000, and I find that to be a pretty good deal.
