China announced Friday a number of additional tariffs against U.S. products as a response to the sweeping tariffs that President Donald Trump imposed.
The Finance Ministry announced that it would be imposing additional tariffs of 34 percent on all U.S. products starting April 10.
Beijing has also announced that it will begin imposing export restrictions on medium and heavy rare earths to the United States. This includes samarium and other medium and heavy rare earths, such as gadolinium and terbium.
The Commerce Ministry stated that the purpose of China’s export controls is to protect national security interests and fulfill international obligations like non-proliferation.
Beijing also added 11 foreign entities to its “unreliable entities” list. This allows Beijing to punish foreign entities.
