Local officials reported early Tuesday that Russian forces had launched a massive drone attack overnight on residential areas in Ukraine’s Black Sea Port of Odesa. The attack caused fires to break out and damage many apartments.
“The enemy has targeted a residential district in Odesa’s densely populated district,” wrote Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov on Telegram.
He posted photos of an apartment building with its windows broken and damaged facades, as well as a fire that was out of control.
Oleh Kiper, Regional Governor, said that the attack caused damage to vehicles, a school, and civilian infrastructure.
Kiper stated that emergency crews were dispatched in the affected areas, and that information about casualties is being clarified.
Odesa has three ports and has been the target of Russian air attacks for more than three years in the conflict with Russia.
