A spokesperson said that “Spotify was down today starting around 6:20 am EST. Spotify has been restored to normal operation as of 11:45 am ET. Check the @SpotifyStatus X Channel for any further updates.”
According to Downdetector.com’s data, over 48,000 people had problems with Spotify on Wednesday morning. The site tracks app outages live. BBC reported that the tech glitch affected Spotify users in the U.S., as well as parts of Europe.
Spotify announced on Wednesday that it was working to fix the problem. A spokesperson for the streaming company denied that hackers were responsible. The company posted a message at midday indicating that the problem had been resolved.
The Spotify Status account posted on X: “All clear – thanks for your patience.”
While Spotify was working to get the app back online, disgruntled app users took to social media to air their frustration. “Messing with my morning man!!,” one user wrote. Social media users pointed to a variety of issues, with some saying they couldn’t listen to music at all and others reporting glitches while playing songs.
