Kremlin Calls Ukraine Drone Attacks Ahead of WWII Parade ‘Terrorism’

The Kremlin’s recent allegations that attempted Ukrainian drone strikes on Moscow constitute “acts of terrorism” are more than a little rich. This is a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black.

Russian air defense forces claimed to have downed 14 Ukrainian drones on Wednesday, as Kyiv allegedly targeted the Russian capital for the third consecutive day. This supposed onslaught forced the closure of Moscow’s airports hours before the arrival of Chinese President Xi Jinping, an event which Ukraine has openly opposed.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov took the opportunity to paint Ukraine with a broad brush, stating, “The Kyiv regime continues to demonstrate its essence, its propensity for terrorist acts.” Yet, let’s examine the facts. By definition, terrorism is the use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims. Sound familiar? It’s a description chillingly apt for Russia’s behavior in regions like Chechnya and Ukraine itself.

Peskov’s assurance that Russia was doing everything in its power to ensure the security of the commemorations of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany. The irony here is almost palpable. A country known for its aggression and disregard for international law is suddenly concerned about security. The centerpiece of these commemorations – a military parade on Moscow’s Red Square – is sacred to Russia, yet civilian lives in Ukraine are not.

When asked how Russia would respond to the attempted drone strikes, Peskov pointed to a Russian three-day ceasefire proposal. But Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has dismissed this as pointless, countering with an offer of an unconditional ceasefire of at least 30 days. The idea that Russia, with its track record, is the champion of peace and tranquility is nothing short of laughable.

The reality is that while Russia points fingers at Ukraine, it continues to conduct its own drone and missile attacks on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities. These attacks have resulted in civilian casualties, including a mother and her son. Let me ask you a question: Who is the real terrorist here?

In conclusion, the Kremlin’s attempt to label Ukraine as a ‘terrorist’ state is a classic case of deflection. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see through this baseless accusation.
