Trump Picks Paul Ingrassia to Lead Powerful Office of Special Counsel

On Thursday, President Donald Trump revealed his plan to nominate Paul Ingrassia as the head of the U.S. Office of Special Counsel. An announcement on Truth Social saw Trump lauding Ingrassia’s exemplary performance in his present capacity as the White House liaison for homeland security.

Ingrassia, a practicing attorney, previously held the position of White House liaison for the Department of Justice shortly after Trump returned to the White House earlier this year. According to reliable sources, notably from ABC News in February, he was later reassigned to the Department of Homeland Security due to his insistence on hiring candidates displaying “exceptional loyalty” to the president. This approach led to disagreements with the Justice Department’s chief of staff.

Ingrassia also served in the White House National Economic Council during Trump’s first term, based on his LinkedIn profile. His specific role within the council remains unspecified. In a recent statement, Ingrassia pledged to prioritize the restoration of competence and integrity in the Executive Branch, focusing on eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal workforce and rejuvenating the Rule of Law and Fairness in Hatch Act enforcement.

To conclude, the appointment of a new head for the Office of Special Counsel could bring about significant changes in the way the office handles its responsibilities.
