ICE Director Vows Security for July 4 Celebrations: ‘Americans Should Feel Safe’

The Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Todd Lyons, has assured the American public of their safety this coming July 4th, in the wake of recent U.S. military action on Iranian nuclear sites.

The Department of Homeland Security has been diligently striving to safeguard all large fireworks celebrations. The efforts, according to Lyons, involve extensive collaboration with local and state partners over prolonged periods to ensure the most current threat intelligence is taken into account.

Law enforcement officials have reported no specific, credible threats at this time. However, they maintain a state of preparedness as the holiday approaches. This development follows earlier reports of potential retaliation from Iran.

Elizabeth Neumann, a former Assistant Secretary for Counterterrorism during the first Trump administration, warned of the need for continued vigilance. She expressed concern about the possibility of Iran using the element of surprise to its advantage.

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, reportedly threatened in a speech last week that his country will seek revenge with “everlasting consequences.” He accused the U.S. of “dangerous, lawless, and criminal behavior,” and affirmed Iran’s right to self-defense under the U.N. Charter.
