Florida-Based Pentagon Vets Under Threat, Homeland Security on Alert

The Pentagon has sounded the alarm, and retired U.S. special operations veterans living in Florida are facing a credible terrorist threat.

Our brave heroes who served in Iraq and Syria are now targets right here on our own soil. The U.S. Army Special Operations Command, in a rare move, issued an alert urging these servicemen and women to be vigilant. They’re not even telling us who the enemy is! No specific group or country of origin. Just a vague, ominous “duty to warn” notification.

Colonel Allie Scott, a spokesperson for the Command, told The New York Times that such notices are issued when there’s a potential threat involving “intentional killing, serious bodily harm, or kidnapping.” But she declined to give further details, citing the sensitive nature of the intelligence.

This threat doesn’t apply to active-duty special operations personnel. But even our current troops have been advised to stay vigilant both on and off base. They’re even telling troops to inform any retired colleagues living in Florida about the situation. I guess they’re expecting our veterans to fight off terrorists on their own!

Florida is a haven for thousands of our retired elite military personnel. Many served at the Tampa-based U.S. Special Operations Command, the nerve center for years of covert missions targeting ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and other terror networks. Our brave commandos have been at the center of drone strikes, raids, and intelligence gathering missions in Iraq and Syria, often operating under the radar due to potential reprisals.

The Pentagon has long ADMITTED the risk of foreign actors or jihadist groups seeking revenge against American forces. They know it can happen even within U.S. borders. The question is, are they doing enough to protect us?

Andrew Sullivan, executive director of No One Left Behind, added his voice to the mix, noting that the terrorist threat from Syria is so strong that retired American veterans in Florida are at risk of reprisal because of their service. The exact details of this threat remain unknown, but its existence has reignited fears within national security circles.

Our veterans deserve better. They deserve a government that will protect them, not leave them to fend for themselves.
