Trump Sets the Clock: Gives Russia Just ’10 or 12 Days’ for Peace Deal

President Donald Trump has announced a significant reduction in the timeline he previously set for Russia to end its military operations in Ukraine. This development comes amidst ongoing tensions and diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict.

President Trump, speaking to reporters at his Turnberry golf club in Scotland, has shortened his original 50-day ultimatum to “10 or 12 days.” The President’s statement reflects growing frustration with the prolonged conflict and the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

President Trump cited multiple discussions with President Putin, expressing disappointment in the continued Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv. The President specifically mentioned civilian casualties, stating, “You have bodies lying all over the street. And I say, that’s not the way to do it.”

This accelerated deadline puts increased pressure on Russia to cease hostilities and engage in meaningful peace negotiations. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, has reportedly welcomed Trump’s stance, interpreting it as a “clear signal, peace through strength.”

It’s important to note that President Trump had previously promised to end the conflict within 24 hours upon his return to the White House. The evidence suggests that the reality of the situation has proven more complex than initially anticipated.

While President Trump emphasizes the need for a swift resolution, the Kremlin, through its spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, has indicated that there are no current plans for a meeting between Putin and Trump in Turkey, as reported by TASS.

This raises important questions about the effectiveness of diplomatic pressure and the potential for escalation in the region. As the situation continues to evolve, the world watches closely to see how both the Russian and Ukrainian leadership will respond to this new deadline.
