The Department of Homeland Security informs us that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have recently detained a man in the wake of a tragic vehicle accident in Florida that took three lives.

The individual arrested, a 25-year-old named Harneet Singh, is identified by Immigration and Customs Enforcement as an undocumented immigrant from India. Singh was a passenger in the truck, driven by his brother, involved in the fatal collision on the Florida Turnpike. Reports indicate the crash was a result of an illegal U-turn maneuver by the truck.

Harjinder Singh, Harneet’s brother and the driver of the vehicle, is also currently in custody and is facing three counts of vehicular homicide. The Florida State Troopers, in collaboration with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, issued an ICE detainment order for Harjinder Singh after ascertaining his illegal presence in the U.S.

Dave Kerner, Executive Director of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, expressed his shock and condemnation of the event. He confirmed that Harjinder Singh would be deported following the conclusion of the pending criminal charges against him.

Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin has expressed her concern about the situation. She pointed to the fact that Harneet Singh was previously encountered by Border Patrol agents in May of 2023, yet was allowed into the country under the immigration policies of former President Joe Biden. She criticized the issuance of a Commercial Driver’s License to an illegal alien by the California Department of Motor Vehicles under Governor Gavin Newsom.
