President Donald Trump has expressed support for the release of files related to Jeffrey Epstein, the late financier and convicted sex offender. However, the President has also voiced concerns about potential collateral damage to innocent individuals named in these documents.
President Trump stated at a White House press conference, “There are a lot of innocent people in those files who don’t deserve to be mentioned just because Epstein knew everybody in Palm Beach.” The President added that he has instructed his team to “give them everything you can give them,” referring to the release of information to the House Oversight Committee.
The Justice Department was scheduled to transmit some of Epstein’s files to the House Oversight Committee today. This development follows earlier reports of widespread interest in the contents of these documents.
President Trump has characterized the focus on Epstein as politically motivated, describing it as “a Democrat hoax” intended to divert attention from his administration’s record. He also pointed to associations between Epstein and other prominent figures, including former President Bill Clinton and former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers.
