Two men have been arrested in connection with an incendiary device placed under a news media vehicle.
The device was discovered on Friday beneath a vehicle belonging to Fox 13, a local news station. The Unified Fire Authority reports that while the device had been lit, it failed to function as intended. This incident occurred in proximity to an occupied building, raising significant safety concerns.
The suspects, identified as Adeeb Nasir, 58, and Adil Justice Ahmed Nasir, 31, were taken into custody on Sunday. They are currently being held without bail at Salt Lake County Jail. The charges they may face include attempted aggravated arson, threat of terrorism, and possession of weapons of mass destruction.

The FBI, leading the investigation with assistance from local authorities, tracked the suspects to a residence on the outskirts of Salt Lake City. At this location, investigators discovered firearms, illegal narcotics, and what are described as hoax weapons of mass destruction. It’s worth noting that both suspects were prohibited from owning firearms due to previous drug-related issues.
This incident occurred against the backdrop of heightened media presence in the area following the recent shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. While authorities have not indicated any connection between these events, the situation raises important questions about the safety of media personnel and public figures.
As the investigation continues, many questions remain unanswered. The Unified Fire Authority has stated that no further information will be released at this time. This story serves as a reminder of the importance of remaining vigilant and informed in our communities.
