During a recent address before the U.N. General Assembly, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu voiced his gratitude to President Donald Trump and the United States for their assistance in disabling Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
Netanyahu praised the U.S. for its June attacks on three Iranian sites, a critical move in Israel’s campaign against Iran’s nuclear program. President Trump later declared that Iran’s key nuclear facilities had been ‘completely and fully obliterated’.
“‘I want to thank President Trump for his bold and decisive action,’ Netanyahu announced to the Assembly. ‘President Trump and I promised to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. And we delivered on that promise.’ He emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant and not allowing Iran to rebuild its military nuclear capacities.”
Netanyahu went on to criticize the leaders of several countries, including France, Britain, Australia, and Canada, for ‘unconditionally’ recognizing a Palestinian state. This follows the horrific events orchestrated by Hamas on October 7, 2023, where approximately 1,200 Israelis were killed and nearly 250 taken hostage.

Netanyahu cited President Trump’s understanding of the common threat faced by Israel and America, highlighting Trump’s decisive actions when American lives were threatened by Iran and its proxies. “He showed the world that when Iran and its proxies murder Americans, take Americans hostage, shout Death to America, burn American flags, and try to assassinate the president of the United States, there is a price to pay for all that,” Netanyahu said.
This raises important questions about the international community’s reaction to these events. Netanyahu painted a grim picture of the global response, suggesting that countries supporting a Palestinian state were inadvertently endorsing violence. ‘Murdering Jews pays off,’ he said. ‘When the most savage terrorists on Earth are effusively praising your decision, you didn’t do something right. You did something wrong, horribly wrong.’
Netanyahu also questioned the viability of a two-state solution, citing the Palestinians’ historical rejection of such proposals. ‘They don’t want a state next to Israel. They want a Palestinian state instead of Israel,’ he argued.
The significance of this should not be overlooked. While peace negotiations continue to face obstacles and the tension in the Middle East persists, the world watches and waits.
