Trump Teases ‘Major’ Autism Announcement Coming Monday

President Donald Trump stated on Saturday that his administration plans to deliver an important announcement related to autism research findings on Monday, although he did not provide any further details.

Trump, speaking at a dinner hosted by the conservative American Cornerstone Institute, promised a revelation that he believes will be of significant importance. “I think it’s gonna be one of the most important things that we will do,” he stated.

Earlier this month, The Wall Street Journal reported that Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is preparing to announce that the use of Kenvue’s popular over-the-counter pain medication, Tylenol, by pregnant women could potentially be linked to autism. This is a departure from the current medical guidelines, which maintain that Tylenol is safe to use during pregnancy.

Autism diagnoses in the United States have risen noticeably since the year 2000, reaching a rate of 2.77% in 2020, up from 2.27% in 2018 and 0.66% in 2000, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This has heightened public concern and stirred much debate.

Kennedy contends that the U.S. is witnessing an “autism epidemic” propelled by “environmental toxins.” However, decades of research have yet to provide conclusive evidence on the causes of autism, although many scientists propose that genetics, perhaps alongside environmental influences, may play a part.

The President also hinted at another announcement from his administration regarding drug pricing policies, to be delivered by the administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Mehmet Oz. The so-called “most favored nation” model aims to bring U.S. prescription drug prices in line with the lowest rates paid by member countries of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

“Dr. Oz is in charge, and he’s a smart, tough guy, and I hope he’s going to do this,” Trump stated, implying potential tariff repercussions for nations that pose obstacles to this plan.

We look forward to Monday’s announcement and will continue reporting as more information becomes available.
