Justice Prevails: Convicted Kavanaugh Attempted Assassin Receives 8-Year Sentence

Today, we witnessed yet another example of the radical Left’s attempts to undermine our constitutional republic, getting exactly what it deserves – cold, hard justice.

Sophie Roske, who plotted to assassinate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, just received an eight-year prison sentence. Let’s say that again – eight years for attempting to murder a Supreme Court Justice. And let’s be honest, the sentence could have been much harsher.

In 2022, Roske traveled from California to Maryland with the explicit purpose of assassinating Justice Kavanaugh. Let’s break down exactly what this individual brought: a Glock 17 pistol, tactical gear, ammunition, pepper spray, zip ties, and various tools for breaking. This wasn’t some spontaneous act; this was premeditated terrorism aimed at the heart of our judicial system.

The Left wants to downplay this, but let’s examine the timeline. After the leak of the Dobbs decision, Roske “ramped up” plans for the attack. This is what happens when you convince people that Supreme Court justices are “literally killing people” with their decisions.

Roske admitted to planning to kill three Supreme Court justices, to, and I’m quoting directly, “single-handedly alter the constitutional order for ideological ends.” This is the logical conclusion of the Left’s dangerous rhetoric about “court-packing” and “illegitimate” justices.

Now, the prosecution requested a 30-year sentence. Instead, Judge Deborah Boardman handed down 97 months with lifetime supervised release. Let’s analyze this: The judge cited Roske’s mental health issues and apparent remorse, particularly noting that Roske called police before carrying out the attack.

Attempting to assassinate a Supreme Court justice isn’t just an attack on an individual. It’s an attack on our entire system of government. When Judge Boardman said, “Anyone who thinks they can intimidate a judge and her family by threatening to harm or engage in violence against them will be caught and punished,” she was absolutely right. But let’s be honest – eight years seems light for attempting to reshape the Supreme Court through murder.

The Left will undoubtedly try to minimize this, claiming it was just a troubled individual who needed help. But let’s apply some basic logic: If a conservative had attempted to assassinate a liberal justice over, say, Obergefell v. Hodges, we’d never hear the end of it. The media would be running wall-to-wall coverage about “right-wing extremism.”

Our constitutional republic depends on judges being able to interpret the law without fear of violent reprisal. When we normalize political violence – as the Left has increasingly done – we undermine the very foundations of our society.
