Homan Promises Deportations for Improperly Vetted Migrants Under Biden Administration

Border czar Tom Homan delivered an unequivocal message to Democrats threatening him with prosecution over the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement: “Come get some.”

The facts here are straightforward. Democrats have already announced their intention to prosecute Homan for implementing lawful immigration policies. His response demonstrates the appropriate level of concern, which is to say none whatsoever. When you are enforcing the law as written, threats of political persecution should not deter you from doing your job.

Homan outlined the catastrophic consequences of the Biden administration’s border policies during his appearance Monday night. Half a million children were separated from their families and smuggled across the border. A quarter million Americans died from drug overdoses linked to substances that crossed that border. These are not abstract statistics. These are American lives lost due to deliberate policy choices.

The contrast could not be starker. President Trump has delivered what Homan accurately describes as the most secure border in American history. The results speak for themselves: sex trafficking has plummeted, terrorist crossings have dropped dramatically, criminal cartels are losing revenue, and deportations have reached record levels. Every promise made to the American people is being fulfilled.

The timing of Homan’s comments is particularly relevant given recent events. Rahmanullah Lakanwal, a 29-year-old Afghan national, allegedly opened fire on two West Virginia National Guard members in Washington during Thanksgiving week. The attack killed 20-year-old Sarah Beckstrom and critically wounded 24-year-old Andrew Wolfe. Two young Americans serving their country, one now dead, because of failures in the vetting process.

Here is where the Biden administration’s negligence becomes crystal clear. Lakanwal entered the United States legally in 2021 under Operation Allies Welcome, the rushed evacuation program implemented as the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan. While asylum was formally granted during the Trump administration in April, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed that the actual vetting process occurred under Biden’s watch.

This distinction matters enormously. The Biden administration prioritized speed over security, bringing individuals into this country without proper screening. The Trump administration inherited the consequences of that recklessness and is now forced to clean up the mess.

Homan’s solution is direct and correct. “We’re going to find every one of these people that weren’t vetted, and we’re going to make sure that they are properly vetted, and if not, they’re going home.” This is not controversial. This is common sense. Every nation has the right and responsibility to know who is within its borders.

The larger principle at stake here involves the rule of law itself. Democrats spent four years implementing policies that resulted in measurable harm to Americans. They separated children from families by incentivizing illegal border crossings. They facilitated drug trafficking that killed hundreds of thousands. They rushed through inadequate vetting procedures that allowed potential threats into the country.

Now, facing accountability for these failures, they threaten prosecution against those enforcing proper immigration law. This represents a fundamental inversion of justice.

President Trump made specific promises to secure the border and protect American citizens. The evidence demonstrates he is keeping those promises. The border is more secure than it has ever been. Dangerous individuals are being removed from the country. Proper vetting procedures are being implemented.

If Democrats wish to prosecute Tom Homan for this record of success, they are welcome to try. The American people will render their own verdict on who deserves accountability for immigration policy over the past five years.
