Here are the facts: While Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem faced heckling from anti-ICE protesters and hostile questioning from Democrat lawmakers on Thursday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were simultaneously removing illegal aliens convicted of sexually abusing children and committing other heinous crimes from American communities.

The contrast could not be more stark. As Democrats grandstand about immigration enforcement, ICE is doing the work that should have been done years ago: removing dangerous criminals who have no legal right to be in this country in the first place.

According to DHS officials, the arrests included Carlos Gomez-Diaz, an illegal alien from Mexico convicted on three counts of felony second-degree sexual exploitation of a child in Wake County, North Carolina. Also arrested was Rose Stanley, an illegal alien from Liberia convicted of sexual assault of a disabled victim in Somerset, New Jersey.

Let that sink in. These are not people who overstayed visas and are working peacefully. These are convicted predators who targeted the most vulnerable among us: children and disabled individuals.

The list continues. Oswaldo Antonio Hollman, an illegal alien from El Salvador, was arrested following his conviction for possession of child pornography in Laredo, Texas. Alonso Maciel Guadalupe, an illegal alien from Mexico, was convicted of manslaughter in El Paso County, Texas. Mauro Humberto Lopez-Aleman, an illegal alien from Cuba, was convicted of arson-business in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

A Department of Homeland Security spokesman did not mince words when describing these arrests. “Some of the disgusting animals arrested yesterday sexually abused children and disabled victims. Sanctuary politicians protect these criminal illegal aliens and allow them to terrorize the citizens of this country. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, we are prioritizing American citizens. We are getting the worst of the worst out of our neighborhoods and out of our country.”

This raises an obvious question: Why are Democrats more concerned with protecting the enforcement process than celebrating the removal of child predators from American streets? The answer appears to be ideological rigidity trumping common sense and public safety.

Secretary Noem testified before the House Homeland Security Committee on Thursday, addressing security threats facing the United States. Rather than engaging substantively with these threats, she was met with theatrical protests and political posturing.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration is demonstrating its commitment to transparency. On Monday, DHS launched a searchable “worst of the worst” website showcasing at least 10,000 illegal aliens arrested as part of the administration’s immigration enforcement efforts.

Assistant Homeland Security Secretary Tricia McLaughlin explained the purpose clearly: “This new Worst of the Worst webpage allows every American to see for themselves the criminal illegal aliens that we are arresting, what crimes they committed, and what communities we removed them from. This is all about transparency and showing results.”

This is what accountability looks like. Americans deserve to know who has been living illegally in their communities and what crimes these individuals committed. The website provides concrete data about enforcement actions, allowing citizens to judge the administration’s performance based on facts rather than political rhetoric.

The fundamental issue remains simple: The Trump administration is removing convicted criminals who entered or remained in the country illegally. These are not difficult cases requiring moral deliberation. These are individuals who have been convicted in American courts of serious crimes and who lack legal status to remain in the United States.

That Democrats choose this hill to fight on reveals much about their priorities.
