The Outrage Machine Runs on Schedule
Here we go again. Democrats have found their newest impeachment obsession, and this time it’s Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. The resolution now boasts 120 co-sponsors, up from 100 just days ago. That’s quite the spike, and the timing couldn’t be more convenient for the left’s narrative.
The catalyst? The killing of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis during what the administration calls Operation Metro Surge. It’s a tragedy, no question. But watch how quickly tragedy becomes political ammunition in Washington. Before the facts are even sorted out, before any real investigation concludes, we’ve got Democratic governors, senators, and representatives lining up to demand Noem’s head on a platter.
Rep. Bennie Thompson said Trump and Noem have “blood on their hands.” That’s not political commentary anymore. That’s accusation as performance art.
When Enforcement Becomes the Enemy
You know what’s really happening here? Democrats are watching an administration actually enforce immigration law, and they’re treating it like some kind of constitutional crisis. Operation Metro Surge put thousands of federal officers into Minnesota. That’s the government doing its job, protecting citizens and enforcing laws that Congress itself passed.
But listen to how they describe ICE now. Sen. Peter Welch calls it “a paramilitary force terrorizing American communities.” Not enforcing the law. Terrorizing. That’s the language of revolution, not governance.
And Sen. Jacky Rosen claims Noem has “lost control” of her department after a year in office. One year. Compare that to the southern border situation we endured for four years under the previous administration, where “losing control” was practically policy.
The Video That Proves Everything (Except It Doesn’t)
Here’s where things get murky, and where honest people need to pause. Noem says Pretti approached Border Patrol agents with a handgun and “violently resisted” when they tried to disarm him. Eyewitness videos, according to reports, don’t appear to show him holding a gun in those final moments. Local officials confirm he had a permit to carry.
That’s a problem. That demands investigation. That requires answers.
But here’s what it doesn’t require: immediate impeachment proceedings before anyone knows what actually happened. Democrats aren’t waiting for body camera footage. They’re not waiting for forensic analysis. They’re not even waiting for the official investigation to begin before they’ve rendered their verdict.
Rep. Laura Gillen says ICE has “targeted U.S. citizens and children and killed Americans” under Noem’s leadership. That’s an extraordinary claim. Where’s the pattern? Where’s the evidence of systematic targeting? Or is one tragic incident now proof of institutional malice?
The Chaos They Actually Want
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz posted that DHS “is telling us not to trust our own eyes” and can’t be trusted to investigate these killings. So what’s her solution? Political impeachment instead of criminal investigation? That’s not justice. That’s theater.
The Democratic Party’s official X account screamed “IMPEACH KRISTI NOEM” in all caps on Sunday. Nothing says serious governance like social media outrage in capital letters.
What’s genuinely disturbing is watching Democrats describe immigration enforcement as inherently violent and chaotic. When you enforce laws that previous administrations ignored, yes, there will be friction. Yes, there will be confrontations. That’s what happens when you actually do the job instead of pretending the problem doesn’t exist.
Michael Bennet demands the president “remove these federal agents from our cities now.” Why? Because they’re arresting people who violated immigration law? Because they’re doing what ICE was literally created to do?
What Should Actually Happen
Let’s be clear about what justice looks like here. If federal agents killed an American citizen who posed no threat, that’s not just wrong. It’s criminal. Those officers should face prosecution. The investigation should be thorough, transparent, and swift.
But that investigation should be done by professionals, not politicians hunting for scalps. The Minneapolis incident deserves serious inquiry, not a partisan circus with 120 co-sponsors looking for their moment in the spotlight.
Noem’s critics want her impeached before we even know what happened. They want her gone not because the facts demand it, but because she represents an administration willing to enforce immigration law. That’s the real offense in their eyes.
Traditional conservative principles tell us that government should do a few things well rather than many things poorly. National defense and border security fall squarely in that “few things” category. When Democrats describe enforcement of existing law as chaos and violence, they’re really saying they don’t want those laws enforced at all.
The Truth We’re Not Supposed to Say
Here’s the blunt reality. If Alex Pretti was killed unjustly, those responsible should face consequences regardless of their badges. But if Democrats truly cared about justice rather than politics, they’d wait for facts instead of rushing to judgment. They’d demand investigation instead of impeachment.
They won’t, though. Because this isn’t about Alex Pretti. It’s about stopping an administration that’s finally treating immigration law as something more than a suggestion. It’s about making enforcement so politically toxic that future administrations think twice before trying.
That’s not justice. That’s just politics wearing justice’s clothes. And Americans are smart enough to see the difference.
