House Republicans Catch Biden Team Rigging the Game on Alcohol

## When Bureaucrats Play Doctor

Here’s what you need to know about government overreach in 2025: The Biden administration didn’t just recommend you drink less. They broke the law trying to scare you into it.

A new House Oversight Committee report exposes something we suspected all along. The Biden team’s crusade against alcohol wasn’t about your health. It was about control. And they didn’t care much for legal niceties while they were at it.

Last year, Surgeon General Vivek Murthy released a report claiming “a very direct link between alcohol consumption and increased cancer risk.” Sounds official, right? He called for warning labels on every bottle. He wanted to reassess the dietary guidelines. The whole nine yards.

But here’s the thing. The process was rigged from the start.

## The Canadian Connection Nobody Talked About

The congressional investigation reveals something truly bizarre. The Biden administration based its recommendations partly on Canadian citizens’ input. You read that right. Canadians helping write American dietary policy.

This wasn’t some transparent public process. It was relatively secret, flying under the radar while most Americans worried about inflation and border security. The administration tossed aside years of precedent. They consulted foreign nationals. They cherry-picked data to support predetermined conclusions.

The report’s title says it all: “A Study Fraught With Bias: How the Biden Administration’s Alcohol Intake and Health Study Tried To Undermine the…” Well, you get the picture. Undermine your freedom to make personal choices.

Look, nobody’s saying alcohol is health food. We’re adults. We understand moderation. But that’s exactly the point. We’re adults. We don’t need bureaucrats in Washington manufacturing evidence to justify their moral panic about what you do after work on Friday.

## The Timing Tells You Everything

The report dropped just hours before HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins scheduled a press conference. They’re unveiling new guidelines. Different guidelines. Guidelines that presumably respect both science and liberty.

Coincidence? Not likely.

The contrast couldn’t be sharper. One administration breaks the law to push its agenda. The next administration exposes it and charts a different course. This is what accountability looks like when it actually happens.

And honestly, this goes beyond beer and wine. It’s about a pattern. A mindset. The belief that government knows better than you do about every aspect of your life. Your diet. Your healthcare. Your kids’ education. Your business. Your speech.

## What Limited Government Actually Means

This is why conservatives harp on limited government. Not because we’re anarchists. Not because we hate public health. But because we’ve seen this movie before. Give bureaucrats an inch of authority, and they’ll take a mile of your freedom. Then they’ll break the law doing it. Then they’ll act surprised when you object.

Free markets work because they respect individual choice. You want to drink? Don’t drink? That’s between you, your doctor, and your conscience. Not Vivek Murthy. Not some committee that consulted Canadians for some inexplicable reason.

Traditional principles matter here too. Personal responsibility. Self-governance. The idea that adults can weigh risks and make decisions without a nanny state hovering over their shoulder with manipulated data and scare tactics.

The Biden team’s alcohol study wasn’t just biased. According to Congress, it was unlawful. That’s not hyperbole. That’s not partisan spin. That’s what the investigation found.

So yes, raise a glass if you want. Or don’t. Either way, it’s your call. And it’s about time Washington remembered that.
