Biden Let 729 Iranians Walk Into America and We’re Supposed to Feel Safe

Donald Rumsfeld had a phrase for situations like this. He called them “known unknowns.” The disconcerting truth about Biden’s border catastrophe fits that description perfectly because here’s what nobody can tell you with certainty: how many illegal immigrants actually made it across our southern border without getting caught.

The Biden administration tossed out a number claiming their “apprehension rate” was 78%. I’m rolling my eyes too, don’t worry. That’s just a guess, and not even an educated one. The illegals who successfully snuck in weren’t exactly signing a guestbook or filling out customer satisfaction surveys. They vanished into the interior of our country, and we have no idea who they are or where they went.

But let’s play along with their math for a second. Even if that 78% apprehension rate were true, and it’s almost certainly not, we’re still talking about catastrophic numbers. After more than 10 million border encounters under Biden, that means millions of unvetted, unchecked illegal immigrants entered American cities and neighborhoods. They’re living among us right now. Your town, maybe. Your neighborhood, perhaps.

And here’s the kicker. Millions more were caught and then released anyway. The Heritage Foundation spelled it out clearly: Under current Biden policies, most encounters between illegal aliens and border officials result in the illegal alien being simply released into America. Right now, over 80% of the hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens encountered each month on the southwest border by Customs and Border Protection appear to be released into the interior. This isn’t “catch and release” anymore. It’s “greet and release.” It’s a welcome wagon with government funding.

The apprehension rate question matters because just between October 2020 and September 2024, at least 729 illegal immigrants from Iran entered the United States. Iran. The world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism. The country that chants “Death to America” in its parliament. The regime that funds Hezbollah, Hamas, and every other terrorist group with an axe to grind against the West.

Seven hundred and twenty nine Iranians that we know about. Think about that number. Now think about the ones we don’t know about. If the apprehension rate really is 78%, and again that’s being generous, then hundreds more Iranians crossed successfully without being caught. They’re here. Somewhere.

You know what keeps me up at night? It’s not the statistics. It’s the common sense that apparently died in Washington. We’re talking about nationals from a hostile foreign power walking across our border during a time of heightened global tension. This isn’t xenophobia. This is basic national security. The kind of thing that used to be bipartisan common sense before everything became a culture war.

The frustrating part is how preventable this whole mess was. We had a functioning border security system. It wasn’t perfect, but it worked. Then Biden took office and dismantled it piece by piece, executive order by executive order. He sent a message to the entire world: America’s border is open for business.

And they listened. They came by the millions. From everywhere. Including countries that genuinely wish us harm.

This administration will tell you they inherited a broken system. That’s their favorite excuse for everything. But broken doesn’t mean you tear down the remaining walls and invite chaos. You fix what’s broken. You don’t make it worse and then act surprised when criminals and potential terrorists take advantage of your incompetence.

The American people deserve better than known unknowns about who’s living in their country. They deserve a government that takes national security seriously enough to actually secure the nation. That’s not radical. That’s the bare minimum.
