The Pedophile Illinois Set Free Tells You Everything About Sanctuary State Madness

There’s a convicted child rapist walking free in Illinois right now because Governor JB Pritzker thinks cooperating with federal immigration authorities is beneath him. Let that sink in for a moment. A man who sexually abused a child, someone ICE specifically requested be turned over for deportation, was instead released back into Illinois communities because the state’s sanctuary policies matter more than protecting kids.

The Department of Homeland Security isn’t mincing words anymore. Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis torched Pritzker directly, asking where his investigation is into the policies that allowed this pedophile to roam free. It’s a fair question. Actually, it’s the only question that matters when you’re talking about a governor who’d rather score political points with the progressive base than acknowledge the human wreckage his ideology creates.

This isn’t some abstract policy debate about immigration reform or border security philosophy. This is about a specific predator and a specific choice. Illinois operates under the TRUST Act, a piece of legislation that sounds noble until you realize it prohibits state and local resources from being used for most civil immigration enforcement. The law was championed by Springfield Democrats and signed by former Republican Governor Bruce Rauner, which tells you everything about how establishment Republicans fumbled the ball on this issue years before Trump changed the game.

You know what’s rich? Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson compared Trump’s America to Jefferson Davis’ Confederacy while pledging to fight federal immigration enforcement in the streets, the legislature, and the judiciary. He’s accused the president of declaring war on Chicago and using DHS as a private militarized occupying force. The rhetoric is overheated and ridiculous, but it’s also revealing. These officials have convinced themselves they’re freedom fighters standing against tyranny when they’re actually running interference for criminals who shouldn’t be here in the first place.

The Hyatt Hotels heir sitting in the governor’s mansion continues to refuse doing his job. That’s not partisan spin. That’s just observable reality. His policies created the conditions where a child sex offender walks free instead of being deported. Pritzker wants credit for compassion and moral clarity, but there’s nothing compassionate about releasing predators into communities. There’s nothing moral about prioritizing political posturing over public safety.

Former Acting ICE Director Jonathan Fahey ridiculed Pritzker’s demand that DHS pause all ICE raids on Halloween weekend. The absurdity speaks for itself. Criminal illegal immigrants don’t take holidays, but apparently our enforcement efforts should accommodate the political calendar of sanctuary state governors who think they’re being brave.

This is what limited government actually means, by the way. It means the federal government handles immigration because that’s explicitly a federal responsibility. States don’t get to nullify federal law because they disagree with it. That’s not federalism. That’s chaos dressed up as conscience.

The truth cuts through all the noise. A child was victimized. The perpetrator was convicted. Federal authorities asked for him. Illinois said no. He’s out there now, and if he hurts someone else, that blood is on Pritzker’s hands. That’s not hyperbole. That’s cause and effect.

Secretary Noem called out both Pritzker and Johnson while in Illinois, pointing to their catastrophic handling of criminal illegal immigrants. The criticism landed because it’s grounded in facts that can’t be spun away. These aren’t abstract statistics. These are real people suffering real consequences because elected officials care more about their standing with the open borders crowd than protecting their constituents.

Where’s the accountability? Where’s the investigation Bis demanded? Don’t hold your breath waiting for Illinois Democrats to examine how their sanctuary policies endanger children. That would require admitting they were wrong, and modern progressivism doesn’t do contrition. It does deflection and moral preening.
