Florida Democrat Paid Thousands to Staffer Who Called for Zionists to Die

There’s something deeply wrong when a U.S. Senate candidate hands over thousands of dollars to someone who openly wishes death upon Jews. But that’s exactly what happened in Florida, and it tells you everything you need to know about where the Democratic Party is heading.

Angie Nixon, the Democratic Socialist candidate running for Senate in Florida, paid Sara Mahmoud at least $8,400 between June and July for social media management. Mahmoud wasn’t just some random contractor with questionable views lurking in her past. She had a digital footprint spanning multiple accounts and aliases that read like a greatest hits collection of antisemitic bile. We’re talking about posts wishing Zionists would “die already” and calling Hamas militants “freedom fighters” worthy of glory and honor.

Let that sink in for a moment. Freedom fighters. She said this on the same day Hamas fired 400 rockets into Israel from Gaza. These weren’t soldiers engaging in conventional warfare. They were terrorists launching indiscriminate attacks designed to kill civilians, women and children included. And Mahmoud cheered them on.

The Canary Mission, an antisemitism watchdog group, cataloged dozens of Mahmoud’s posts. The pattern is consistent and chilling. In 2016, she wrote “Wow, white Jews are so entitled lmfaoooo please die.” Another post equated Zionism with white nationalism and white supremacy, a talking point that’s become disturbingly common in far-left circles. She even bragged in 2017 that “Twitter banned me for saying zios should ch*ke but here’s my cute a** nails.”

You know what strikes me most about this? It’s not just the hatred. It’s the casualness of it. The way she mixed calls for violence with mundane updates about her manicure. That’s someone who’s so comfortable with their antisemitism that it’s woven into the fabric of their daily life.

Nixon’s campaign brought Mahmoud on as recently as June, despite posts dating back to 2015 being publicly available. Either they never bothered to vet her, which suggests incompetence, or they knew and didn’t care, which suggests something far worse. When Fox reached out for comment, the campaign declined to say whether they were aware of the posts when they hired Mahmoud. They also wouldn’t comment on whether the posts were appropriate. Instead, they offered the political equivalent of a shrug, noting only that Mahmoud had found other employment and was no longer with the campaign.

That non-answer speaks volumes. Nixon is backed by the Democratic Socialists of America, an organization whose opposition to Israel has become increasingly radical. The overlap between DSA support and anti-Israel sentiment isn’t coincidental. It’s ideological. These groups have decided that Israel represents Western imperialism and colonialism, and they’ve dressed up their opposition in the language of social justice. But when that opposition manifests as celebrating terrorist attacks and wishing death upon Jews, we need to call it what it is.

This isn’t about legitimate criticism of Israeli policy. Reasonable people can disagree about settlement expansion or military tactics without crossing into antisemitism. But Mahmoud didn’t criticize policies. She called for people to die based on their support for Israel’s right to exist. She celebrated an organization whose founding charter explicitly calls for the destruction of the Jewish state.

The Democratic Party finds itself at a crossroads. On one side, you have traditional Democrats who recognize antisemitism when they see it. On the other, you have a growing progressive wing that’s willing to tolerate, or even embrace, people like Mahmoud in the name of Palestinian solidarity. Nixon’s campaign made a choice about which side they’re on when they cut those checks.

Florida voters deserve better than a Senate candidate who either can’t properly vet her staff or doesn’t think violent antisemitism disqualifies someone from representing her campaign online. Individual liberty means nothing if some individuals are deemed acceptable targets for hatred based on their ethnicity or religious beliefs. Limited government doesn’t work if the people we elect to run it think terrorism is justified when directed at the right targets.

The silence from other Florida Democrats is deafening. Where’s the condemnation? Where’s the pressure on Nixon to explain herself? The party that prides itself on fighting hatred sure seems selective about which kinds of hatred deserve their attention.

This story matters because it exposes the rot spreading through progressive politics. When you can praise terrorists as freedom fighters and still get hired by a Senate campaign, something has gone terribly wrong. When a candidate pays you thousands of dollars despite your public record of antisemitic posts, the mask has slipped. We’re seeing who these people really are, and voters need to pay attention before they hand them power.
