Mel Gibson Visits Burned Ruins of His Malibu Home

Published on

Mel Gibson, an actor and director known for films such as “We Were Soldiers,” Braveheart,” and “Mad Max,” appeared recently on Joe Rogan’s podcast. Gibson used this platform to make some harsh criticisms of the immaculately coiffed California Governor.

It was a huge irony that while Gibson was critiquing Newsom’s inability, Gibson’s Malibu home was on fire, just like many other homes and businesses across southern California.

Mel Gibson inspected the ruins of his Malibu mansion, worth $14.5 million, Wednesday – a week after the Palisades Fire destroyed it.

The actor walked through his neighborhood with a firetruck and then assessed the damage to his 15-year-old home.

He was photographed thanking the firefighters for their work in fighting the fires.

Gibson, wearing a blue flannel t-shirt, jeans, and a black hat found an end table in the rubble, which he brought with him.

Gibson toured the damaged Los Angeles properties with a NewsNation journalist and California first responders.

The photos that accompany the article show Gibson acting with grace and gratitude to the first responders he was photographed with.

The star of “Lethal Weapon”, was not done criticizing the federal government for the destruction of his home, and that of thousands of other homes.

The “Mad Max’ star asked if one of the first responders knew that “the water reservoir was empty.” To which the firefighter replied that the crew ran out of “quite quickly.”

It’s not unusual for us to lose a lot of water during a firefight. The firefighter said that the fact that it happened so early was unexpected.

Gibson replied: “Yeah, it wasn’t here. You didn’t know? That’s crazy.”

Gibson stated the following on Joe Rogan’s podcast:

Gibson stated on the podcast, “I think Newsom, in 2019, said, You know, I’m going take care of and maintain the forests” and all of that sort of stuff.” “He didn’t accomplish anything.”

Mel Gibson’s criticisms of the film are not new. The same criticisms have been leveled at the likes of Governor Newsom who could be witnessing his political career burn even hotter than the ones that destroyed Pacific Palisades. Also, at Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, and at the diverse, but incompetent, leaders of the Los Angeles Fire Department. Gibson’s loss and his graciousness in accepting it, at least publicly, personalize the fire for many who didn’t personally know anyone who was affected.

There is a strange celebrity cult in many parts of the world today, where people have a strong connection with actors, singers, and other celebrities. Right or wrong, many people feel this way. Some feel a personal crisis when someone they’ve been watching on television and in movies for years is affected.

Mel Gibson is a good example.

This happened not only to Mel Gibson but also to thousands of Californians who now feel that their trust in state officials has been misplaced. While we can sympathize and appreciate Gibson’s grace and his dealings with the firefighters, we also need to remember what he said to Joe Rogan when his house was on fire. Maybe the people in the Los Angeles region should listen to him and other like-minded individuals.
