A passenger aircraft with 176 passengers on board caught fire Tuesday night at an airport in South Korea. The passengers and crew were safely evacuated.
Yonhap reported that the Air Busan flight at Gimhae International Airport, in the southeast city of Busan, was headed for Hong Kong. According to the report, the 169 passengers, seven crew members, and three injured people were evacuated by an inflatable slide.
Busan authorities did not respond to calls for their dismissal.
A Jeju Air passenger aircraft crashed in December at Muan Airport, south of South Korea. All but two people aboard were killed.
After its landing gear failed, the Boeing 737-800 skidded from the runway at the airport on December 29. It slammed into a concrete building and burst into flames. All of the passengers were South Koreans, except for two Thais. The plane was returning from Bangkok when the incident occurred.
