According to the Department of Defense, illegal border crossings into the U.S. from Mexico have decreased by 94% since Donald Trump became president.
He declared a state of emergency at the border on the first day he was sworn in for his second term as President.
The president claimed that America was under attack.
He said, “Our southern border is overrun with cartels and criminal gangs. They are known terrorists, human traffickers, and smugglers. Unvetted males of military age from foreign enemies. And illicit narcotics which harm Americans.”

The DOD stated that the President’s order to shift national priorities, which included designating drug cartels terrorist threats and sending troops to the border made a difference.
The Pentagon said, “Backed by executive orders and military resources, these efforts are aimed at protecting American communities and restoring sovereignty.”
Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott ordered the closure of a jail booking center in Jim Hogg County, near the Mexico border, as it is no longer necessary to process those charged with illegal entry to the U.S.
Last week, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials reported that more than 1,500 suspected members of gangs had been arrested.
