Three people entered a home in southern Louisiana Tuesday night and fired a gun at one homeowner. The homeowner, however, was also armed and shot the gunman while the two other suspects fled Jeanerette.

According to the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office, the intruders broke into the house in the 9000 block of Old Jeanerette Road at around 10:30 p.m.

According to the sheriff’s office, one of the intruders was carrying a gun and shot it at the homeowner. But the homeowner responded and killed the intruder.

Two other suspects ran from the house and are still at large Tuesday night.

The sheriff’s office stated that deputies responded to a home invasion call and discovered the dead male inside the house.

Authorities added that the name of the deceased male was being withheld until an investigation is completed and notifications are made to family members.

  • Another commenter stated, “Thank God for Louisiana’s ‘Stand Your Ground law.” You can carry concealed if you are a veteran. You can save lives by having gun training and knowledge about the rules of force. It will be safer if there are more veterans.
