Major US Cities Brace For Possible Violence After Atlanta Riots Ahead Of Tyre Nichols Video

Georgia Governor. Brian Kemp declared a state-of-emergency order on Thursday to stop potential protests in Atlanta over weekend.

This order requires that 1,000 National Guard troops be called up. It expires February 9.

The order states that Georgians respect peaceful protests but don’t tolerate violence against property or persons.

According to the order, the emergency was declared due to “unlawful assembly, violence, threats of violence and disruption of the peace, tranquility, and danger existing for persons and property.”

After protestors marched in Atlanta last weekend against the death of Manuel Esteban Paez Teran, a 26-year old environmental activist, the Georgia State Patrol shot and killed him. The Georgia State Patrol shot him and killed him after Teran, according to authorities, shot and injured a Georgia trooper trying to clear protesters from a construction site for a new public safety center. This facility was nicknamed “Cop City” by activists.

This area was originally planned for the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center, but protestors have fiercely opposed it.

Some businesses in Atlanta were damaged when rioters hurled bricks and rocks at windows. Black-clad masked protestors hurled rocks at windows and set off fireworks in front the Atlanta Police Foundation skyscraper. Large glass windows were broken by these large-sized stones. As stunned tourists fled, graffiti was also daubed on walls.

Six people have been charged with domestic terrorist acts in connection to the riots.

They were identified as Ivan Ferguson (23 years old), of Nevada; Graham Evatt (20-year-old) of Decatur, Georgia; Nadja Geier (24-years-old), of Nashville, Tennessee; Madeleine Feola (22) of Spokane; Francis Carrol (22) of Kennebunkport; Maine; and Emily Murphy (37) of Grosse Isle.

Police departments in major cities such as Austin, Texas, Los Angeles, California, and Washington, D.C. were already preparing for possible unrest ahead of Friday’s release of a video showing a confrontation between five Memphis police officers, and Tyre Nichols, a 29-year-old man who later died.

Fox News Digital was informed by the Austin Police Department that it was monitoring Memphis events and that its officers would be “moving into tactical alert status” beginning Friday morning. Fox News Digital was told by a law enforcement source that units are on standby at the Los Angeles Police Department.

“The Metropolitan Police Department was briefed by law enforcement partners about five officers who were fired and then charged in Memphis Tennessee. MPD stated that they have learned that the video will be made public and contains disturbing content which does not reflect the values any law enforcement officer is sworn to uphold.

“The Metropolitan Police Department has activated all sworn personnel to prepare for possible First Amendment activities within the District of Columbia.”

New York City Police Department stated that it is closely monitoring the situation in Memphis.
