Goosebumps Author Sets The Record Straight After Woke Language Changes Made To His Best-selling Books

Published on

R. L. Stine (author of the “Goosebumps”) series of children’s books, stated that any changes to his books’ language were done without his consent.

The Sunday Times reported first that Stine and Scholastic had made more than 100 edits to the famous book series. It has sold over 400 million copies. These edits sanitize language by removing references and language about slaves, being “crazy”, and suggesting that characters are fat.

Stine retorted that he knew about the edits on Monday.

“[T]he stories don’t hold true. Goosebumps has never had a word changed by me. Stine stated on Twitter that any changes made to Goosebumps were not shown to her.

Scholastic issued a statement confirming the changes. Scholastic stated that the edits were made many years ago and were necessary to protect the mental health of readers of “Goosebumps”.

According to the statement:

The Goosebumps series has been a popular choice for millions of children over the past 30 years. It combines humor and a touch of horror to bring laughter to their lives. Scholastic is committed to continuing to bring this iconic adolescent brand of Scholastic to every generation. Scholastic reviewed titles several years back to ensure that the language was current and avoided imagery that could be harmful to young people’s views of today. A special focus was placed on mental health when Scholastic reissued titles.

This development follows numerous Roald Dahl books that were edited to please progressive ideologues about topics such as weight, mental illness, violence, gender, or race.

Penguin Random House addressed the controversy by explaining to the public that Dahl’s books would still remain published in their original form. Books with modern changes will be published by Puffin Books.

The publisher stated that readers will have the freedom to choose which Dahl stories they like.
