Jill Biden, first lady, suggested that the Hawkeyes’ women’s basketball team, which lost to LSU Sunday in the NCAA championships, visit the White House. Lisa Bluder, Iowa coach responded graciously.

Biden suggested the idea Monday while she was in Denver. Angel Reese from LSU, LSU’s top football player, laughed at it and suggested that she could visit Barack and Michelle Obama.
Bluder responded in a tweet Tuesday.

Bluder tweeted: “I thank her First Lady for these sentiments, however, a day at the White House should be reserved solely to Coach Mulkey and the champion LSU. ” “We welcome President Obama and First Lady to Iowa’s Carver Hawkeye Arena at any time! ”

Caitlin, an Iowan standout athlete, made the same comment to ESPN.

Clark stated that he doesn’t believe runners-ups are often invited to the White House. Clark stated, “I don’t believe runner-ups often go to the White House. ”

Clark stated, “More than anything, it was just the fact that I was fortunate enough to have some really awesome people in that arena at Sunday’s championship game.” Clark stated that women’s basketball was supported by many well-known people. I appreciate her presence.

Vanessa Valdivia was Jill Biden’s press secretary. She clarified her remarks earlier Tuesday.

Valdivia tweeted that “The First Lady enjoyed watching NCAA women’s basketball championship games with young student athletes. She is proud of the progress made by women in sports since Title IX was repealed. “
