White House Responds to Biden’s Cheat Sheet Controversy

Published on

Joe Biden was found with his worst cheat sheet yet while giving a press conference with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol on Wednesday.

The internet was set ablaze after Biden was pictured with a piece of paper containing reporter Courtney Subramanian’s picture, name, and a formal question. Written at the top in a box were the words “Question #1.” Subramanian works for the left-wing newspaper The Los Angeles Times and has denied that she pre-submitted the question shown.

Karine Jean-Pierre, who was asked to comment on the controversy during Thursday’s White House Briefing, did so with a comical amount of gaslighting. (The New York Post)

Karine Jean Pierre claimed that it was “entirely natural” for President Biden to have a cheat sheet at a joint press conference with the question of a reporter in advance. However, she denied this was what actually happened.

Jean-Pierre, at the White House Press Corps’ regular briefing, told journalists that it was “normal” for a President to be informed about reporters who would be attending a press event and what they were likely to ask.

It is not surprising to us that he received questions yesterday — right? The press secretary continued, “On the visit with the South Korean President on Wednesday”,

Jean-Pierre said, “We don’t have specific questions prepared in advance. That’s not what we do.” This is despite the fact that for months her briefings were heavily scripted, an aide would ask reporters their questions and then the press secretary would decline to call on those who refused to answer.

Did you understand all of that? You’re supposed to think that the White House is so foresighted that it can anticipate specific questions asked by reporters with such accuracy. Remember, the paper didn’t contain a list of possible questions that a reporter could ask. This would have been more in line with Jean-Pierre’s explanation. It was a very specific question, complete with capitalized “you” so that Biden would understand what was being asked. It’s not a random act in hopes that a journalist will ask the exact same question.

Jean-Pierre’s claim is illogical. What would be the point of putting a randomly generated question on the cheat sheet the president uses during his press conference? If Subramanian was given several questions to ask before the press conference, that would be fine, but a single question, which is very specific, on his notes for the day doesn’t seem to make sense.

Let’s assume Jean-Pierre was telling the truth about this (highly unlikely). What does this say about Biden’s mental abilities if he has to be held by his hand to the extent that he is in order to answer just two questions during a formal media conference? Answer: It says a lot of bad things. It’s obvious that the president is no longer with us, and when he does appear in public it’s uncomfortable. It’s one thing to prepare for a press conference. What was on the paper he had with him is quite another. And simply declaring that the sky is not blue will not cut it.
