North Carolina Roller Coaster Closed After Social Media Sleuths Notice Huge Cracks In Structure

A man from North Carolina noticed that the roller coaster’s support beam had a large crack while it was in motion.
Fox News reported Jeremy Wagner notified authorities after he noticed a crack on the Fury 325 Giga roller coaster located in Carowinds, whose theme park is located.

A park spokesperson confirmed that the ride had been temporarily closed and was being inspected by the maintenance team:

The park’s maintenance team is conducting a thorough inspection. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. As part of a comprehensive safety protocol, all rides including Fury 325 undergo daily inspections. It is to make sure that the rides are structurally sound and work properly.

According the Daily Mail, according to park officials, they inspect their rides every day, but visitors claim that it took several days before the ride was closed when they discovered the crack.

“Multiple park visitors posted photos on Facebook of the crack during her visit to Park” reported the outlet. “A Carowinds representative did not respond to questions regarding the crack being discovered long before the ride closed. ”

This video shows the moment a rollercoaster car passes over the crack, moving the two parts of the beam. After the rollercoaster has passed the beams are brought together.

According Carowinds website, Fury 325 is North America’s tallest and fastest mega roller coaster.

Fury 325 measures more than 1.25 miles and is North America’s largest steel roller coaster. Carowinds reports that the average ride takes 3.25 minutes to complete and crosses over the state border between North Carolina and South Carolina.

Fox reports that no injuries were reported due to the crack.
