Texas Judge Blocks Biden’s Deportation Policy

Texas U.S District Judge Drew Tipton just issued a restraining order against the Biden Administration, temporarily blocking the President’s moratorium on deportations for 100 days saying it would have a negative impact on the state of Texas and its social services. This would suspend his policy for 14 days and still apply to many immigrants in the country illegally who had received final deportation orders.

The lawsuit was brought forth by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton who argues that the order is “unconstitutional” and “bad for Texas and the nation.” He claims that the Biden Administration is attempting to roll back immigration policies issued by former President Donald Trump without any concrete or reasonable justification.

“On its first day in office, the Biden Administration cast aside congressionally enacted immigration laws and suspended the removal of illegal aliens whose removal is compelled by those very laws. In doing so, it ignored basic constitutional principles and violated its written pledge to work cooperatively with the State of Texas to address shared immigration enforcement concerns,” the lawsuit reads.

Paxton claims that the Department of Homeland Security agreed to consult with Texas before making any changes to deportation regulations. Texas pays millions of dollars annually to provide social services and uncompensated healthcare expenses to millions of illegal aliens.

Programs such as the Emergency Medicaid program, the Family Violence Program, and the Texas Children’s Health Insurance Program have also anticipated financial harm from which the state cannot recover. Biden and his administration plan to offer a path to citizenship to almost 11 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S, despite endangering Texans and undermining federal law.

Based on a recent study from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, deportation costs per illegal alien costs about $10,854 to American taxpayers, versus $746.3 billion per illegal alien living in the U.S over a lifetime. The Trump Administration had deported more than 256,000 illegal aliens from the U.S last year, saving the country an estimated $2.8 billion.

At least 14,715 detainees are currently being held In 138 ICE facilities nationwide, with criminal charges that include assault, child abuse, domestic violence, drug trafficking, and rape.

“Our state defends the largest section of the southern border in the nation. Failure to properly enforce the law will directly and immediately endanger our citizens and law enforcement personnel. DHS itself has previously acknowledged that such a freeze on deportations will cause concrete injuries to Texas. I am confident that these unlawful and perilous actions cannot stand. The rule of law and security of our citizens must prevail,” Paxton said.

State legislatures are about to serve a major check against the Biden Administration’s lawlessness. It shouldn’t be a fight to protect American freedoms and tax dollars against illegal aliens, yet here we are today.
