Texas Gov. Proves How ‘Neanderthal’ Mask Mandates Really Are

Published on

In March, Texas lifted its mask mandates and opened its full economy, becoming one of the first states to take such actions. But radical left media outlets claimed Gov. Greg Abbott was going to ‘kill more Texans’ and that removing mask mandates was ‘Neanderthal thinking.’ Since then, the state has had declining COVID-19 numbers, declining hospitalization rates, and even hit the lowest 7-day positivity rate ever. Texas wants residents to make their own personal health decisions and the liberal media called it ‘doomsday.’ Here’s an update to see how wrong they were.

Gov. Abbott recently reported on Twitter that Texas has seen a dramatic drop in COVID-19 cases and deaths since fully reopening the state. “Today Texas reported: * 0 Covid related deaths–the only time that’s happened since data was tracked in March 2020. * the fewest Covid cases in over 13 months * the lowest 7-day Covid positivity rate ever * the lowest Covid hospitalizations in 11 months. Thanks, Texans!” Abbott tweeted.

Gov. Abbott was met with a streamline of hate from fellow Democrats since fully reopening the state last month. Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke even slammed the call as a “death warrant for Texas” and accused the governor of “killing the people of Texas.” But the biggest pushback was from President Joe Biden. “The last thing we need is Neanderthal thinking that in the meantime everything’s fine, take off your mask, forget it. It still matters,” he said.

The Texas governor recently spoke with anchor Maria Bartiromo on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures” where he talked about their continued decline in deaths after opening up 100% – and mentioned the marked day with zero deaths. He said that hospitalization rates continue to go down and that they’ve recorded the lowest positivity rate that they’ve had during the history of the entire pandemic.

Gov. Abbott called it the “right move” that the state of Texas decided to open up and get things back to normal. He said that Texas is also planning to ensure full in-person schooling with children not required to wear masks. He issued an executive order making it illegal for schools and governmental entities to implement mask mandates. Roughly 33% of the state is now fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

“The numbers just continue to improve. To put all of this in context, from the very beginning many businesses remained open. In March, we had the entire economy open up 100% and no more masks. And, of course, President Biden and the Democrats railed against it. … Other Democrats said that I had issued a death warrant,” Gov. Abbott said.

But even President Joe Biden has retracted from his ‘Neanderthal thinking’ comment and ditched his mask. The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention recently updated their guidelines earlier to say that it is safe for vaccinated Americans to resume normal activities and not wear masks, indoors or outdoors.

CEO Magazine recently ranked Texas as the best place to do business, claiming that they have as many job openings as it does people seeking unemployment. The state recently withdrew from extended federal unemployment benefits, adding that it didn’t incentivize people to find jobs. Small business owners also claimed that the additional $300 a week was hard to match and that some people just decided to stay home because they were making more money that way. That’s the liberal-based agenda. Pay people to sit at home so they can do whatever they want.

According to the Dallas Federal Reserve, from last April to this April, Texas added a million new jobs and will add 800,000 more throughout the remainder of the year. Their gross domestic product was second in the United States with a 7.5% quarter-over-quarter increase in gross domestic product. Abbott said that consumer spending is “through the roof” and that the state has returned to being above where it was before the pandemic.

“One thing that is powering the economy is that so many businesses are fleeing shutdown states. We see so many businesses coming to Texas and that is one reason why Texas was recognized by the CEOs of this country and CEO Magazine for doing business and why Texas ranked number one in the nation last year for having the most new economic development projects,” Abbott said.

According to the CDC stats, the covid mortality rate in restricted lockdown states compared to open states is exactly the same – about 2% of those infected.

While there is a slight difference in the population infected, masks made no difference and did not save any lives. They were a political weapon used by the radical left to keep people from making their own health decisions. While Texas’s economy is booming, Big Government and locked-down states are still the ones stuck in ‘neanderthal thinking.’
