MSNBC host Joy Reid recently had Lincoln Project senior adviser Stuart Stevens on her show “The Reid Out” to discuss the current situation with two voting rights bills being debated in Congress, the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. While discussing the bills, Stevens went so far as to suggest that if these bills are passed and signed into law, then the Republicans will have a “replaying of 9/11.” The comment wasn’t taken over well with viewers of the show or the families of 9/11 victims.
Reid asked Stevens what would happen if these voting bills are passed and signed into law.
“I think it’s our inability to imagine what would happen which is our greatest danger. It is a replaying of 9/11. And we cannot imagine this attack on America. We have to get out of that. We call it the American experiment because it could have failed. It was an experiment and it’s up to us to defend it,” Stevens said.
Reid nodded her head vigorously at all of his comments, adding that the country is currently “under siege” by the Republican Party and even tried to reference a dictatorship when it comes to the GOP.
His comments mirror that of radical-left political analyst Matthews Dowd who tried to claim that the Capitol riots were “somehow worse” than the terrorist attacks that claimed nearly 3,000 lives. Dowd said it was less about a “loss of life on Jan. 6” and more about how the Capitol riots “ripped our country apart and give permission for people to pursue autocratic means.” He said we’re in a much worse place than we’ve been and that this is the most “perilous point in time” since 1861 in the advent of the Civil War.
Steve Schmidt, another Lincoln Project advisor, has also tried to emphasize the importance of the Capitol riots and included it in a series of tweets about the “three most significant attacks against the United States since 1900.” He included the Pearl Harbor attack on December 7, 1041, the September 11th terrorist attack, and the January 6 Capitol riot. He even went so far as to say that the Capitol riots were the “most dangerous and potentially deadly” because they divided the country. Mind you, the Capitol Hill riot resulted in 5 deaths while 9/11 resulted in almost 3,000 American deaths.
“My friend Matthew Dowd, our friend, you know talked about this. He couldn’t be more right. The 1/6 attack for the future of the country was a profoundly more dangerous event than the 9/11 attacks. 1/6 attacks are likely to kill a lot more Americans than were killed on the 9/11 attacks, which will include the casualties of the wars that lasted 20 years following it,” Schmidt said.
Schmidt tried to say there is an “autocratic/fascist cancer in our land” led by Trump and that the Capitol attacks could’ve caused us to lose everything, including our freedom. He talked about going to “defend democracy in 2022” and fighting back against periods of political violence at the ballot box.
The Lincoln Project has had its fair share of scandals including cofounder John Weaver, who was accused of sexual misconduct within the organization. Schmidt stepped down from the Lincoln Project after revealing he was molested as a child and claiming to be ignorant to John Weaver’s sexual misconduct but has taken a more active role within the organization.
Viewers posted that the claims of a second 9/11 are “unthinkable” and that it shows how out-of-touch the platform is with reality to let it slide by as a casual comment in a regular show that caused no reactions from anyone on the screen. This is just more evidence that the Lincoln Project will blow everything out of proportion to push fear and the radical-left agenda. If the 9/11 reference doesn’t stick, they’ll escalate it to the Civil War again.
Retired New York Deputy Fire Chief Jim Riches, who lost his son as a firefighter at the World Trade Center, said it was “disgusting” to hear that the two events are being compared. He said it was disgraceful to hear that the news outlets were not only comparing the two events but suggesting that the Capitol riot was the darker day.
“It’s a shame. Are they kidding me? 3,000 people died, plus we have more people dying from the air that was down there … They’re comparing it to score points politically. The families are really [angry]. When I talk to them, when they compare it to that, they find that outrageous,” Riches said.
He went on to say that it is “deeply offensive and sad” that the memories of the worst terrorist attack in American history are being deployed by political partisans.
Joe Connor, whose cousin was perished at the World Trade Center, said they continued to dehumanize 9/11 families for political gain and gaslighting a situation to make it seem like these riots were the worst thing that happened on American soil.
9/11 shattered the country as we know it and politicians have been trying to control a terrified public ever since. It goes along with their Democratic agenda and pro-criminal policies.
