Democrats have been targeting Republican events and ignoring their own ‘super spreaders’ for quite some time now. They’ve chosen to ignore Obama’s massive birthday celebration with hundreds of people traveling from around the world to point the fingers at Trump rallies. Remember when Trump was in office? He regularly tested his staff for COVID-19. And now National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Dr. Anthony Fauci is focusing on the Sturgis bike rally in South Dakota and ignoring liberals who gather every single day.
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem called out Dr. Anthony Fauci on Fox News “The Ingraham Angle” over his focus in her state, adding that it was “just wrong” and creating distrust among the American people. She told host Laura Ingraham that over 50% of the population in South Dakota is vaccinated and pointed out that last year’s event only verified 125 cases from the 460,000 visits. She said this year is different because they have the vaccine, as well as medical help available for people who would like it. She said they are conducting the event in a way that protects people’s freedoms and gets people tested if they want to.
Dr. Fauci shared his concerns about the rally on NBC’s “Meet The Press,” along with host Chuck Todd who suggested it could become another COVID-19 “super spreader” event. The two cited a spike in the spread of the delta variant and questioned whether it would be wise for South Dakota motorcyclists to gather. Fauci told Todd he was “sad” that they were going to see another surge related to the rally but that it was understandable that people want to do the things they want to do. He said they should think of the “greater good” that comes from staying home and that they need to get the pandemic under control before they start acting like nothing is going on.
Gov. Noem shot back at Fauci’s comments in her own interview.
“I think it’s unfortunate he is building a distrust into his profession because we need our public health officials. We need to be able to trust them. And he’s just gotten political and picked winners and losers based on who he likes and who he doesn’t.
Social media users criticized Fauci, adding that there should not be unelected bureaucrats telling people what their rights are. Several social media users also pointed out that Fauci has largely ignored Chicago’s Lollapalooza Festival and President Barack Obama’s birthday celebration. To Fauci, riding a motorcycle in the free air is worse than a crowded birthday party or concert. The people telling us to worry don’t seem to be worried themselves. So why should we? They only select and attack the festivities that fit the Dems’ narrative.
Noem went on to say that Fauci’s report is nothing short of an attack on those who choose to exercise their personal freedom to attend Sturgis. She said the media reports are based on faulty assumptions that do not reflect any actual facts or data. She pointed out how wrong they’ve been on their numbers and how the media has lied about the event for over a year. She said they labeled it as a “super-spreader,” even though the evidence shows it wasn’t. She said she is glad that some of the facts are coming to light about how political the academic modeling for COVID-19 patients really is.
“At one point, academic modeling also told us that South Dakota would have 10,000 COVID patients in the hospital at our peak. Today, we have less than 70. I look forward to good journalists, credible academics, and honest citizens repudiating this nonsense,” Noem said.
