For quite some time now, President Joe Biden has insisted that he is way too busy to visit the southern border. He even shared with CNN host Anderson Cooper during a CNN Town Hall that he hasn’t visited the border because he just hasn’t had the time to make a visit. This is right before CNN released a report indicating how Biden has spent more time on personal travel than former president Donald Trump at this point in the presidency. You know things are bad for Biden when even CNN points this out.
“I’ve been there before, and I haven’t — I mean, I know it well. I guess I should go down. But the — but the whole point of it is: I haven’t had a whole hell of a lot of time to get down. I’ve been spending time going around looking at the $900 billion worth of damage done by — by hurricanes and floods and — and weather, and traveling around the world,” Biden claimed.
He went on to say that First Lady Jill Biden has been on both sides of the river and has seen the circumstances there. He claimed that she has “looked” into these places and notes how you’re not seeing a lot of pictures of kids lying close to one another with tarps on top of each other. It was a disturbing comment to make as he is in charge of handling the border crisis.
The comments set off a ton of critics who pointed out how Biden spends almost every weekend at his beach home. Others note how he hasn’t visited the border in over a decade, if ever. Biden also failed to mention to Cooper at the time that he would be vacationing that weekend in Delaware despite having “no time” to visit the border.
Biden went on to say that they’ve “significantly increased” funding through the Health and Human Services, adding that they’ve got to find a way to determine whether someone is staying in the country because of “legitimate fears” or “purely economic reasons.”
After the Town Hall, CNN published an analysis of the presidential travel, adding how Biden has spent more days on “personal travel” than Trump at this point in his presidency. Biden has taken 35 personal trips and spent all or part of 108 of his first 276 days in office at one of his Delaware homes or Camp David in Maryland.
The report includes partial days, where Biden spent part of the day at the White House before departing in the evening. 69 days were spent at his home in Wilmington over 23 visits, seven days at his Delaware beach house over two visits, and 32 days at Camp David over 10 visits. By comparison, Trump has spent all or part of 61 days at either his Mar-a-Lago or Bedminster properties in Florida and New Jersey.
While the media attacked Trump for putting Secret Service members at his properties and accused him of profiting from it, Biden has been doing the exact same thing. One of his rental properties near the beach house he stays at had been rented to the Secret Service when he was VP and is likely being rented to them now. The media just won’t talk about it.
“That puts Biden ahead of the pace set by former President Donald Trump, who had spent less time at his Florida and New Jersey getaways at the same point in his presidency than Biden has spent in Delaware,” wrote CNN’s Betsy Klein.
While the mainstream media attacked Trump for years over golfing, traveling, and renting rooms to Secret Service, they’ve been notably quiet about Biden’s ventures. But if CNN is willing to talk about it, then Biden might be in more trouble than we realize.
