After Charlamagne Tha God, a TV host asked Kamala Harris who the “real” president of the country was, Vice President Kamala Harris reacted angrily. “I want to find out who the true president of this nation is — Joe Biden or Joe Manchin?” Charlamagne asked Harris on Comedy Central’s “Tha God’s Honest Truth” while Harris and Harris talked about Democratic Sen. Manchin’s opposition of some liberal spending legislation currently being debated on Capitol Hill.
Harris replied that President Biden was our leader, then expressed disappointment at the question. She said, “C’mon Charlamagne.” She repeated, “No, no. No, no. It’s Joe Biden,” he said, trying to explain his reasons.
“And don’t start talking like you’re a Republican about asking whether he’s president. “And it’s Joe Biden. It’s Joe Biden. I’m vice president. My name is Kamala Harris,” she said defiantly. She also stated that the Democrats hold a slim majority in the Senate, with Harris being the likely deciding vote on any tie between 48 Democrats and 50 Republicans plus two independents who are part of their caucus.
Charlamagne argued Manchin, a moderate Democrat who hails from West Virginia, was “holding back progress” and harming Black people through his votes. Harris said that it was a mistake to view this through the lenses of Democrats versus Democrats. However, the truth is that Republicans are consistent and unanimously standing in our way of progress.
“It’s wrong to think of this through the lense of Democrats versus Democrats. The fact is that Republicans are consistent and unanimously standing in our way of progress.”
Then she referred to line items in the Democrats’ plan such as the child credit (which she claimed would lower “Black child poverty” by 50%.) She said, “I understand the frustration but let’s also not deny that we have had an impact and that there is still a lot of work to be done. It is difficult.” “But we won’t give up, and I will never give up,” she said.
Charlamagne stated that Americans need Harris to save democracy, adding that he prefers the fieriness of Harris’ answer about who the true president is. He said, “That Kamala Harris — That’s the one that I like.” Harris spoke with the Los Angeles Times Friday to discuss the lack of planning by the administration regarding the coronavirus variants.
She told the Times that she didn’t believe Delta would come. “I believe most scientists didn’t see Delta coming, despite the fact that they relied on their guidance and advice. Omicron was not something we saw coming. This is the nature of Omicron, this horrible virus. It has variants and mutations.
