Only 37% Of Democrats Want To See Biden On 2024 Ticket

An I&I/TIPP poll recently revealed that just over one-third of Dems would like to see President Joe Biden become the candidate for the 2024 Democrat presidential ballot. Respondents were asked to answer the following question: “Who would you like to see running for President on the Dem ticket in 2024?”

22% chose Biden, with 12% following Vice President Kamala Haris. 4% percent said Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and 3% each to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Rep. Joe Kennedy, and Stacey Abrams. 2% or less of the remaining candidates received support. 31% of the potential candidates say they are uncertain.

Biden doesn’t have overwhelming support among Dems. Only 37% of them want him to run for the Dem ticket again in the next election cycle. A further 16% chose Harris and a total of 13% are unsure.

37% of independents are not sure who they want to see on the Dem ticket. Only 8% say Biden should.

Only 8% of independents or other non-majority party voters want Biden to be the Dem standard-bearer. 10% prefer Harris over Biden. This suggests that Biden has almost no support from independents, who are the swing voters, who account for a third to more of those who vote each election.

Biden’s top spot is not something that even Dems are enthusiastic about. Only 37% of those surveyed want him to be there. Only 16% of those surveyed want Harris to be the presidential standard-bearer. This is alarming considering that Harris, VP Harris, will become president if Biden does not finish his term.

The Dems are expected to win the 2024 election, despite no other candidate getting more than a single-digit vote. The success or failure of Biden’s policies in the next two years will be key.

This survey was taken among 1,013 registered voters between December 1 and 4, 2021. It has a margin error of +/– 3.2 percent. This comes as Biden’s approval is still below average across the board.
